About Me Post 1/2

 Hello there, welcome to my humble blog. I'm Yasmin Suraya, a part 8 student from the TESL program. I am just a regular girl from Ampang trying to ace my last semester and hoping I can graduate with ease. This is actually my first ever blog page so I am quite excited to start blogging. Better late than never I guess. 
In terms of my computer skill, I would say I am computer savvy. I would rely on my computer skills to finish most of my assignments so I had to learn along the way. Of course there are still tons of skills to be learned in order to call myself an expert with the computer and I am hoping that I will reach that level once I have proper knowledge and opportunity. 
Windows, Microsoft, Linux, and iOS are some of the computer software that I know and heard of. I have been using Windows and Microsoft my whole life so I am pretty comfortable with two software and definitely know my way around it. For computer hardware, I know how important a motherboard is and I also know which processor is the best for a smooth-running PC. I am currently using an AMD A9 7th generation as my processor which is clearly not the best in the game but it gets the job done for me as a light user. I do know that for gaming, the processor and graphic card play a big role in ensuring a smooth gaming experience without any lag.
It is indisputable that computers and technology in general can assist learners to learn second/foreign language. I would say that it is just one click away. They can google anything and everything and there are so many contents that can help learners. They can open Youtube and learn how to pronounce the words correctly, and there are also many other platforms that learners can utilize. 

One application that I myself personally use is Duolingo. It is a free language-learning platform and it offers about 25 different languages. That is how I learnt my basic French language. There are practices and pronunciation activities that are both fun and engaging. I would say that it is a quick and easy way to familiarize yourself with a new language.

During my practicum, I have incorporated technology in each and every class without fail. YouTube was my main go to as I could always find videos that were related to the topics that I was teaching. I also used the i-Charade application in my classes. It was a success for me as the students truly enjoyed it. It is not a typical chalk and talk method and students love something different and it sparks their curiosity hence they become more participative. My prediction on the usage of technology in language teaching and learning is that it will become an imperative tool that is needed in classroom. More useful applications will be created to tailor the students' need in terms of learning a new language that is more practical and engaging. It will become accessible to everyone and it will be included and made compulsory by the Ministry of Education. Week 7: Internet As Sources for Teaching and Learning

Task 1 1. Elaborate on the advantages of the Internet as resources for teaching and learning based on the three points: SCOPE: Internet provides a wide -range of scope for teaching and learning. Students are no longer required to stay in the classroom listening to the teacher's explanation and copying notes from the whiteboard. With internet, students can do fun activities such as online quizzes, learning through videos, and fun educational games.
